Blank T-Shirts & Polo Shirts – Buying Wholesale Or Bulk

We show you the meaning of some of the terms that are normally used when buying wholesale or bulk merchandise, specially when shopping for blank T-shirts, and Polo shirts sometimes called Sport Shirts. When shopping online it is a good idea to check with the store to make sure that they have what you need.

If you are overwhelmed by some of the jargon in the garment industry your are not alone, here are a few brief definitions to some of the most widely used.

50/50 – Cotton Polyester mix usually cooler to wear and longer lasting. 100% Cotton – The higher the oz. content the thicker the fabric cotton has a tendency to shrink after a few washes even when it is preshrunk.

Collars there are a few:

Crewneck – Collarless Shirt characterized by a cuff-like rounded finish.

Johnny – A traditional fashion collar sewn into a V-Neck.

Shawl – A turned-over continues collar that drapes down slightly in the front.

V-Neck – Collar that is cut in the shape of the letter “V”.

Turtleneck – Because of its length it is worn either turned down or scrunched down over the neck.

Mock – Turtleneck – Like the Turtleneck but this collar sits lower on the neck and is not designed to be turned down on the neck.

Corduroy – A durable woven cotton fabric that is often used in medium-weight form of items, its most recognizable characteristic is length wise wales also known as cords.

Denim – Woven Cotton fabric, usually of medium weight, that is most commonly used for making shirts, slacks and jackets.

Indigo blue is its traditional color.
